二、学情分析
高一甲6班是普通班,农村学生多。他们学习热情高,看重语法知识的学习。在一定程度上将英语学习等同为语法的学习。本节课以他们看重的语法的基础部分—名词为切入点,通过阐述名词在句子中担当的成份进而引出主语从句。教学过程中通过对主语从句的定义、引导词以及形式主语句型的总结,有意简化语法在学生想象中的复杂与抽象。
三、重点难点
1 How to understand and use noun clauses as the subject.
2. How to choose the right introductive words in subject clauses.
2 How to apply subject clauses to writing composition to improve our writing skills.
3 How to combine individual thought with group wisdom.

The students listen to the tape of HOW LIFE BEGAN ON THE EARTH, coming to recognize some subject clauses.
What it was to become was uncertain;
The earth became so violent that it was not clear whether the shape would last or not;
What is even more important is that as the earth cooled down, water began to appear on its surface; It was not immediately obvious that water was to be fundamental to the development of life;
what many scientists believe is that the continued presence of water allowed the earth to dissolve harmful gases and acids into the oceans and seas
