Teaching focus and special difficulties:

Guide the students to understand the song and learn some words, phrases and patterns in the song.

The students will be able to write a letter of sympathy.

Teaching procedures

Step I Listen and fill in the blanks.

Students listen to the song -- We Are the World. At the same time, they try their best to write down the missing the words.

设计意图:学生边听边填词。填词形式与短文语篇填空形式一致。听力能力与填词应试能力同时兼顾。

Step II Watch and check

Students watch the video and check their answers

设计意图:学生观看MV,从听视两方面再次进行理解,并自我检查答案。

Step III Group work

Students read aloud the song to the members in their group.

The members work together to translate the song into Chinese.

设计意图:小组中大声朗读歌词,形成语感。共同把歌词译成中文,充分理解歌词。

Step IV Recitation

1. Students recite the song in their group, one in English while the other in Chinese.

2. Invite a pair to do the recitation to the whole class.

设计意图:歌词朗诵,在表演感受歌曲,理解歌曲。

Step V Words, patterns and grammar

Help students learn some words, patterns and grammar in the song.

设计意图:学习歌词中的一些单词,句型和语法,提升学生英语基础实力。

Step VI Background

Help students learn about the background of the song – We Are The Family.

设计意图:让学生了解歌曲的创作/文化背景,理解音乐的力量。并明白每个人都可以为灾难中的人们做点什么。
