一方面，高中年龄段的学生对周围的事物较为敏感，有自己的观点和看法，他们不满足于教科书上的知识，想获得更多的信息。在英语学习上，他们不只是想把英语作为一门死记硬背的课程来学，更希望能学到知识性和趣味性兼有的内容，从英语学习中获得更多的知识和能力。另一方面学生对科幻比较感兴趣，对构词法有一定的了解。因此，应结合学生的实际情况，因材施教，激发学生兴趣，让学生主动学习，学有所获。
本课例是高二必修5的词汇课部分，转绕“word formation”这一主题，主要通过网络的形式开展学习活动，让学生复习必修4第五单元构词法知识并自主通过网络查找资源，协作学习，通过讨论，了解构词法在英语应试考试和学习中的运用。要求学生学完本课后能够通过构词法知识来提高英语阅读和语基能力。
三、设计思路
本堂课采用任务型教学途径，这种途径是以应用为动力，以应用为目的，以应用为核心（为用而学，用中学，学了用）的教学途径。任务型教学是一种以人为本的，能体现语言价值的，先进的、有效的教学途径。学生带着任务自主学习并在课堂中总结、运用，在完成任务的过程中逐渐生成的知识，形成的技能。本课将通过任务型教学，努力达到课堂活动目的。
四、教学目标
1. To enable students to remember and apply Word Formation in English study;
2. To cultivate students’ reading ability by using Word Formation and relieve their fear about reading.
五、教学重点和难点
1．Understand the rules and usage of Word Formation;
2．Cultivate the ability to use Word Formation in English test;
3．Review the language points of Word Formation in Book 4.

Step I. Revision& Lead in
Teachers use the words of this unit to review the new words and lead in. Show some words of some specific compound words and think of these questions:
1.What is Word Formation?
2.How can Word Formation be used in the Entrance Exam?
教师：通过复习旧知识激发学生的学习兴趣，让学生更易于发表自己的见解，以这种方法导入课题，引起学生对问题的探究，也培养了学生主动思考问题的能力 。
Step II. Word Formation in reading comprehension
Guess the meaning of the words and phrases in the text by using all skills, including Word Formation.
