Step 1. Lead-in

Play a short cartoon to the students and ask them to observe what happened to the little boy in the cartoon.

Q1: What happened to the boy?

Q2: What can we do in such a situation?

Q3: What is first aid? Why do we need first aid?

Step 2. Present the learning aims.

According to the cartoon, the students can get the topic---First Aid for Burns, and present the learning aims on the screen.

Step 3. Words Preview

Ask the students to preview the key words and phrases on the screen.

Step 4. Skimming

Ask all the students to combine the title, then read the passage quickly and find out how many sections the text has and match the main idea for each part.
