2.学情分析

The students have learned the words and reading of unit 5 before, so they are familiar with the topic of first aid.?At the same time, they have already learned the second reading passage .This is the 4th period of unit 5. As for this class, it is a chance for the students to reflect what they have learned and try to write a request letter.?

3.重点难点

(1) Get students to be familiar with the form of an English letter.

(2) Enable students to learn how to write a request letter correctly.

4.教学过程

活动1【导入】Step1: lead-in

Watch a beautiful picture to?lead?to?the?topic?of?unit5?and?the?content?that?they?are?going?to?have?in this?class. At?the?same?time,?ask?the students?to?know?the?learning?aims.

活动2【活动】step2: Reflecting the definition of first aid

Show?a passage with?some missing words and?firstly,?ask the students?to?read?by themselves, then choose?some students?to fill in the blanks.

活动3【活动】Step3: Sharing a first aid kit

Give students a first aid kit, then ask the students to observe the items in the first aid kit together. After watching, ask them to pick out those they don’t know how to use. Then, with the ones they don’t know how to use, remind students that it is necessary for them to get more chance to learn first aid knowledge in order to do a first aid.

活动4【活动】step4: Writing a request letter

Show the students a writing task. Than ask them to discuss with the partners on two questions. Question1: what is a request letter?

Question2: what are the elements of an English letter?

Choose some students to share their ideas with the whole class.

活动5【活动】step5. The differences between Chinese letter form and English letter form

Put up two pieces of paper of the forms of Chinese letter and English letter. Then, ask two students to come to the blackboard to put the elements of each form in the right places. After finishing, show a correct form of English letter to check the one from the student and let students know the differences between Chinese letter and English letter:

Difference1: address

Difference2: the place of the date

Difference3: the marks after the salutation( in Chinese letter a colon is used while in English letter a comma is used.)
