Students will develop an international outlook and cultivate their cross-culture awareness and enhance their intercultural commnunication competence.

Students will be able to strengthen their determination to overcome the difficuties and take up the challenges. Students will be trying to become autonomous learners by the encouragement of XieLei’s story.

Students will be able to get a better understanding of the life and study at abroad and learn how to approach the difficulties and problems in order to prevent them from happening.

Step1: lead-in and pre-reading

Activity 1: Have you ever dreamt of studying abroad ? If so, what are some top universities in the world you know?

Intention: give students a brief introduction to some top universities in the world and let them have a strong desire to study in these universities. For example, the Cambridge University, the Havard University, the Oxford university, the Yale university, etc

Activity 2: brain –storming

Suppose you are given an opportunity to study abroad, what kind of difficulties will you meet or what kind of advantages will you gain?
