选修(语言知识与技能类)英语写作《Reading》公开课教案优质课下载

The reading passage entitled “We stuck together” is from the elective course Writing in English, Unit 8 Dramatic Story. This unit focuses on the organization and languages of story writing. The reading passage “We stuck together” is mainly about three children who were caught in a current while riding on boards and how they got out of danger and reunited with their mother. This is a narrative with a clear moral lesson and some excellent writing skills such as synonymous expressions and specific and precise verbs, which can improve students’ narrative writing.

Analysis of students

As Senior Two students in high school, most of them are accustomed to narrative writing and they have completed many stories in English exams. They have accumulated a certain number of vocabularies and their synonyms and have mastered some simple learning strategies for reading and writing. However, most of them sometimes fail to complete a story showing the writer’s writing purpose. What’s more, most students use general verbs in their writing, which is vague and dull. In this class, by using the reading passage, I intend to teach students how to write with a clear purpose and how to make their story exciting.

Learning Objectives:

To understand the new words and phrases, such as bodyboard, float, current, rip, before long, etc.

To find out theme of the story and the writers’ writing purpose .

To find out the synonymous expressions the writer used in the story.

To make a story exciting by using synonymous expressions and specific and precise verbs.

Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Pre-reading

T and students talk about the hot weather and some water sports.

T asks students the 5W’s & H questions of a narrative.

Aim: While talking with the students about water sports, students’ interest and background knowledge can be aroused and at the same time, learn some news words in the genuine context, such as board and bodyboard. Reviewing the 5W’s and H questions, students can get the gist of the story well.

Step 2 While-reading

Check the homework

5W’s & H questions

1. Who was involved in the story?

2. When and where did the story take place?

3. What happened that first put Kim in danger?

4. How did they get out of danger?

5. What happened at the end of the story?

Read for the theme

T asks students their purpose of writing a story. Students will come up with two basic purpose of writing — to excite the readers and to teach the readers a moral lesson.

T asks students to form in a group of 4 and do 2 tasks about the theme.

1. Complete the last paragraph and show the theme.
