Step 1 Lead- in

Greet the students as usual.

Ask students some questions: What do you usually do on the weekend? Do you often help your parents do some housework? What kind of chores do you often to do?

Show some pictures on the screen and let students talk about what chores they are. ( do the dishes, take out the rubbish, make your bed, cleaning the living room, fold your cloths, sweep the floor, etc.)

Step 2 Presentation

Introduction and new words learning

T: Your mothers are always busy because they have lots of chores to do(learn chore). For example, do the dishes, take out the rubbish, make your bed, cleaning the living room, fold your cloths, sweep the floor.

Next, teach students new words and phrases one by one.

T: I don’t like sweeping the floor. Could you please sweep the floor?

Guide students to answer the question. And give more situations.

Students work in pairs, ask whether he or she like doing some chores. If not, ask others for help.

Help students to make polite requests by using target language: Could you please…?

Step 3 Listening (1b)

Review the chores. Then listen to the tape. Who will do the chores? Check Peter’s mother or peter.
