Teacher leads all students to do a prediction to the questions.

While-listening: Teacher plays the tape and students listen to the tape to complete the questions. Work on 1b: Listen and write short answers to the questions. Work on 1c: Listen again. Number the events [1-6] in the order they happened.

Post-listening: 1) After listening, ask students to check the answers. Then listen again and fill in the blanks.

2) Teacher shows the listening materials to the students. And teacher analyzes the usage of “when” and “while”.

Step Ⅳ Pair work

Talk about why Kate missed the school basketball competition. Student A begins a sentence with while or when. Student B completes the sentence

Teacher gives an example:

B: When the school basketball competition started, Kate was still making her way to school.

Teacher asks students to make conversations with their partners, then show us.
