1. Warm-up and revision

Show students the pictures to practice the sentences patterns of past continuous tense. T: what was he/she doing? S: He/She was...

2. Presentation

(1) Show students the picture of Sandy’s family and talk about what they were doing when it began to rain.

(2) Ask students to fill in the blanks to complete the passage about the picture.

3. Pre-writing

(1)Show students a video about Sun Yang and talk about the event that Sun Yang got the gold medal in the Rio Olympics.

(3)Give students the writing frame and ask them to finish the beginning part, body part and ending part in order.

4. While-writing
