三、教学过程

Step 1 Greeting and Warm- up [5 min]

The teacher talk about her own reading habit to lead the story of journey to the west. Then the teacher ask students what the other characters are in order to let students know the another name of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. Next talk about the appearance of the Monkey King to let students learn the new word “tail”.

Ask two boys do the action of the Monkey King.

Step 2 Lead in

The teacher ask students why they like the Monkey King. Students may answer like that he is clever/smart/interesting….

T: The Monkey King has many skills. Do you know what he can do?

Try to speak English. If you can’t, then you can speak English.

S: 72变, 火眼金金,金箍棒能变大变小….

T: please look at the screen. He can turn himself into a table, a bird, a teapot. He can make many changes. How many changes? So we can say he can make 72 changes to his shape and size, turning himself into different animals and things. Things means objects.

(点ppt) T: And he has a stick , he can make it so small that he can put it in the ear and make it big and long.

S:Think about what else he can do?

Step 2 Presentation

Lead students to read the article quickly and find the answers in 10 seconds.

1) Which book is talked about?

2) Who is the main character?

2. Read the article quickly and match the main ideas in one minute.

Careful reading

1. Read Para 1 and write T or F.

1) What happened in November 1979?

2) Were they hearing this story for the first time?
