Step 1 Revision

Revise the animals’ names by showing some pictures.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Present some pictures and some information about the animals.

2. Students use the comparative degree to compare the animals.

3. (1a) Compare facts about Elephant and Panda. Use the language in the box to help you make sentences.

Example sentences:

This elephant weighs many times more than this panda.

(200 cm taller / shorter, weigh much more / less, eat much more / less, eat many times more.)

4. Ask Ss to say their sentences.

Step 3 Listening

1. (1b) Get the students to listen to Listening Cassette 1b and check the numbers.

2. (1c) Listen again and complete the sentences.

3. Check the answers.

Step 4 Practice

1. Get the students to retell the information about the baby pandas according to 1c.

A: A babypanada cannot see.

B: An adult panada weighs many times more times a baby panda.

Step 5 Homework

Make more sentences to compare facts about Elephant and Panda.
