Step1. Greetings

Greet the students as usual.

Step2. Lead- in

First of all, let students pay attention to the words “used to” and ask them to think about the meaning of “used to do sth.”

Choose one of the students to answer the question then check the answer. Besides give more details about “used to”.

Let students know the relationship between “used to “and “didn’t use to”.

Step3. Presentation

Show some pictures to the students and let them make sentences with “used to” and “didn’t use to”. The teacher can give students an example at first if necessary.

Ask some students to have a try. Then ask the whole class to read the sentences together.

Step4. Activity 4a

First of all, let students read and understand Activity 4a.

Then the teacher explain No.1 to the whole class to make sure everyone can understand how to do this activity well.

Ask three students to do No.2, No.3 and No.4. Consolidate the use of “used to” and “didn’t use to”.

Step5. Presentation

Show some pictures about Lucy in the past and now. Then ask them to make sentences with “used to, but now”.

Give students an example at first to let students know better.

Ask some students to make sentences according to the pictures.
