Warm up,

Review & Lead in1. Teacher’s Activities:

1. Sing and act “Good morning” to students;

2. Sing and act《Happy Birthday to You》with students together;

3. Teacher shows the teaching cards about things that people make and activities that people do on their birthdays. Teacher writes the word “birthday” on the blackboard as PPT shows the related contents. Teacher makes a question like “What do you usually do on your birthday?”,naturally to put emphasis on the pronunciation of “birthday”,then to gradually lead the students to use the former sentence “I usually…” to make an answer.

4. Teacher puts the points on the blackboard, the make emphasis with signs beside the relevant pictures. Such as: I usually eat noodles and eggs/eat a birthday cake/light the candles/make a wish & so on。

5. PPT shows a picture about Spring Festival,then teacher asks “Which month is it?” Students answer “January”. If students can not give the correct answer,teacher can make some tips.

6.Teacher continues to show pictures about seasons,ask the students to make the answer with “I like January/February…”

2.Students’ Activities

1.Greet teachers in English;

2.Sing and act《Happy Birthday to You》with teacher;

3. Students talk with class about their birthday freely. They can list several ways of celebrating birthdays, according to the tips from the teacher. Any other students can make necessary addition to those ideas that collect from class, or even teacher can join the discussion if there are puzzled problems.

4. Students answer the questions from teacher in their practical way. 设计意图通过唱歌调动学生的气氛,通过复习旧知识唤起学生的开口愿望。

1. Teacher’s Activities

1. After reviewing, teacher says “My favorite month is April. Because my birthday is in April. When is your birthday?” Students give the answer as quickly as possible. Then teacher shows the English calendar to let the students guess the month according to the calendar.

2.To teach a new sentence,teacher may draw a birthday cake or make a birthday model, then repeat the word “birthday cake” or “eat a birthday cake” or “light a birthday cake.” After that, teacher may ask the question “When is your birthday?”
