Teaching procedures

Step1 Warming up

Guess a riddle. Starting with ‘I bring a magic thing, what is it?’, then we show a map of China.

Ask students about their trips during summer vacation. ‘Where did you go in summer vacation?’ ‘What did you do there?’ ‘How did you get there’, respectively.

Show a video about scenes in Harbin, Guangzhou, Suzhou and Xining. Let the students to guess their locations.

Step2 presentation

1.First, look at the video of dialogues between Yaoyao and Andy. Think about three questions on the PPT within one minute.

‘Where did Andy go with her parents?’

‘Where is Xining on the map?’

‘What’s Xining famous for?’

2.Make students discuss about the questions on the PPT.

3.Express key words.

4.Play a game to learn about directions, including east/west/north/south.

5.Watch the video again and read after it. Then, let the students conduct role play games.

Help students learn about two key sentences.
