1.Look through the text quickly and find out two things which aren’t mentioned in the text. To skim the text and know the main idea. 2. Read the 1st paragraph and answer questions. To find specific information about fire in ancient times. 3.Listen to the 2nd paragraph and fill in the blanks with words. To find specific information about the uses of fire today. 4. Make a summary of para 1 and para 2 by filling in the blanks and making a short dialogue. To make them understand the history and usages of fire better . 5.Read the 3rd paragraph and answer questions. To make them know the other side of fire. 6.Retell the 3rd paragraph briefly . To consolidate the information they have got. Post-reading 1.Take part in a group competition. To test the information they have got this class. 2.Talk about the two question about fire. To guide them have a deeper thinking about fire . Assignment 1.Try to find more information about fire by using different medias,such as book ,the Internet,etc.

2.Try to make a display board about the history and uses of fire.
