2. Ability?goals:

To make students get familiar with the Subjunctive Mood and master it by using it in the present and past situations

3. Moral goals:

The given materials and exercises give the students an opportunity to learn grammar by using it. It helps the students learn to talk about things that are not certain to happen as well as imaginary or unreal events and situations.

★Teaching Difficult points

How to make students have a better understanding of the Subjunctive Mood .

★Teaching Important points

Ask Ss to learn the basic usages about “wish…, as if, if… ” in the Subjunctive Mood and properly use them in some situations.

★Teaching?Methods:

1. Question-and-answer?activity?

★Teaching Steps:

Step 1 Lead-in (2’)

After enjoying a song called If I were a boy, ask SS which sentence makes a deep impression on them. And then lead in the topic of this class---The Subjunctive Mood.

Step 2 Review (6’)

1. Show students the picture of Xiaohua and ask them two questions:

Q1. Are you familiar with this girl? Do you remember some information about her? What is it?

Q2. How was she infected with AIDS?

2. Ask Ss to look for sentences appearing in the text which express Xiaohua’s wishes to answer. Such as the following:

1) I wish I could remember more about my mother.

2) I wish that she were here with me and that we were not sick.

3) If I were to live long enough to have a job, I would choose to be a doctor.

4) I wish people would find out the facts and not act as if I were a bad or dangerous person

5)If I were you, I would give an AIDS patient a hug.
