The students will learn how to appreciate the short story through analyzing the characters;

The students will know more about life and become braver;

I. Warm-up:

Interactive Task 1: a brief introduction of what will be covered this lesson;

Teacher:

A brief introduction of today’s reading material

Expose students to information about O. Henry

Students:

Get a general idea of today’s reading material;

Purpose: To get all the students involved and prepared for reading the story. Today, we are going to read a short story adapted from O. Henry’s The last leaf. Have you ever read the story?

So you won’t have too many difficulties understanding the story. But we will read the story in its original language, English, rather than Chinese. Try to read and see how O. Henry wrote it in his language. First, what do you know about O. Henry?

He did experience a lot and see a lot of life. That’s the reason why his stories tell about joys, sorrows, and sufferings of ordinary people.

II. Reading
