The Siberian tiger is the largest member of the cat family. It can be found in forests in parts of Siberian and Northern China. It feeds mainly on medium sized mammals such as deer or wild pigs, but is also known to eat fish. The Siberian tiger used to be hunted for its body parts, which were used in traditional medicine. Today the species is on the brink of extinction. Only about 1,000 survive, most of them in Siberian. There are about 500 in China, some of which are in the Hunchun Reserve in Jilin Province.
