模块十 Module X Understanding society英语《unit 3 protecting ourselves Task(1) Writing an article giving advice and warnings Skills building 1 and 2》精品课课件

主题:moral lesson

Summary: 5wh Qs 点出主旨-try on one’s own

Our own sample:

Summary:

1. A little horse wanted to cross a river without knowing its depth. Confused by different thoughts, the horse, inspired by his mother, tried by himself and crossed the river safely.(源)

2. A little horse got caught between the cow’s advice and the squirrel’s warning when he wanted to cross the river. His mother encouraged him to give it a try by himself and he made it.(Lily)

Our own sample:

Para 2: Good point

1. The story sets me thinking. We are always sitting in a chair, listening to the teachers, reading books, receiving much knowledge, but seldom do we stand up to do it ourselves, thus weakening our ability to practise.(Laurence)

2. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.(源)

3. We are born different. It’s beyond doubt that everyone is equipped with different characteristics and abilities. Yet chances are that we rely too much on others’ suggestions, refusing to give it a try.(Vivian)

Our own sample:

Para 3:

1. The memory falls upon me when I first met Physics Olympics. While some commented it was useful and worthy, others argued that it is time-consuming and unpractical. I decided to give it a try. Looking back on it now, whatever the consequences, it is the happiness and the perseverance that I treasure most.(Vivian)

2. My memory never fails me when it comes to my learning to play basketball. While it seemed difficult to learn, everything became simple the moment I made up my mind to learn. After practising for about one month, I finally took pride in my competence and enjoy it ever since.(Simon)

Our own sample:

Para 4:

1. From my perspective, what counts most is that we give everything a try on our own. Since we never know what will happen until we try, it is of vital importance to do it by ourselves, regardless of the comments from others.(Simon)

Kevin’s sample:

A little horse on its way of delivering wheat stopped at the river side where he received opposite suggestions. Under the guidance of his mother, he gave it a try and made it.

A spark of inspiration lights up in my mind that practice serves as the best testing stone to distinguish right from wrong, truths from rumors.

It occurs to me my first time of learning to ride a bike. Scared and worried, I saw some kids manage it like innate masters while others were welcomed by the leaves and muds. Encouraged by my mom, I had a go at it. Surprisingly, I was able to ride after only a few tries and errors. That’s definitely the power of practice.

Sometimes it’s not the lack of intelligence that forces us to give in but the unwillingness to put it into practice. The power of practice can often be late, but never be absent.
