重庆大学版英语(顺序选修)英语6二年级《Theme A Enviromental Protection Global Issues Unit 1 Protecting Our Environment Grammar》优质课ppt课件

( ) greenhouse ( ) carbon dioxide

( ) melting of polar ice ( ) Kyoto Protocol

( ) disappearance of plants and animals

A greenhouse is a building where plants are grown. It heats up because incoming visible solar radiation (for which the glass is transparent) from the sun is absorbed by plants, soil, and other things inside the building.

The greenhouse effect is the natural process by which the atmosphere traps some of the Sun's energy, warming the Earth enough to support life. The greenhouse effect was discovered by Joseph Fourier in 1824.

The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The major feature of the Kyoto Protocol is that it sets binding targets for 37 industrialized countries and the European community for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The Kyoto Protocol was adopted in Kyoto, Japan, on 11 December 1997 and entered into force on 16 February 2005.
