【教材分析】
本单元主要围绕“动物”展开话题。教材叙述了Danny、Jenny和Brian去动物园游玩的故事，并为学生提供了英语警示牌的常用语言。教学中教师应鼓励学生尝试用英语书写警示语，帮助学生掌握叙述故事的几个要素并进行写作。倡导学生要保护和爱护动物。
【学生分析】
八年级的学生对于英语学习应该具有一定的基础和方法，但对于我们偏远的农村中学，优秀生源外流严重，所剩学生基础薄弱，学习被动且滞后，现阶段没有掌握很好的学习方法，在平时的学习中存在很多问题，对于所学知识不能熟练的灵活运用，所以课堂中老师应尽可能多的运用多种教学方法来激发学生学习兴趣和调动学生的学习能动性，引导学生有效地学习。
【教学过程】
Step 1 Lead-in
1.Have you ever been to a zoo?
2.What animals can you see in the zoo ?
The teacher ask one student to answer two questions. Then show some pictures about animals.Revise the words of animals. Lead into the topic “The Zoo Is Open”.
Step 2.Show the learning aims.
1．Master the new words and phrases, understand the meaning of text.
2．Try to write a story about your trip to the zoo.
3. We should protect animals and love animals.
Step 3.Teaching the new words.
The teacher shows PPT .Come to the vocabulary.Teach the new words .Make sure the Ss can read it correctly.After learning them by heart for 2 minutes, one asks and the other answers one by one.Pay attention to “mainly--main”
Step 4 Teaching the dialogue.(Task-based reading)
Task 1 Listen and read.
Let Ss listen to the tape carefully.Finish “Let’s Do It!”Ex.1
Task 2 Fast--reading
Give Ss some time to read the dialogue quickly in groups. Let Ss find some phrases in the dialogue and translate them.
Task 3 Careful--reading
Give Ss some time to read the dialogue carefully in groups.Then answer questions.
1.What does the sign say?
2.What does Danny give the bear?
3.Why can’t they take photos?
