Ability objectives:

Students will understand the passage by listening, and they will be able to talk about their favourite music.

Moral objectives:

By the end of the class, they will make sure that music can make our life colorful.

Teaching key points and difficult points.

According to teaching objectives, the teaching key points are learning the target language and improving the listening and speaking skills. And the difficult point is how to use alternative question and exclamatory sentence.

Teaching methods.

In order to achieve the teaching objectives, I mainly use Task-based approach in my teaching. Task-based approach emphasizes learning by doing, so I design one task to motivate students to use the target language: The task is for group work, they will make an interview.

Teaching procedures:

Pre-listening:

Step1: Lead-in

To lead in the lesson, I’ll play a guessing game to guess what kind of music it is that can arouse students’ interest and open their mind. More importantly, I will tell them there are many kinds of music. After that, I will communicate with them about their feelings on each kind of music.

The purpose of designing the questions is to activate their prior knowledge and teach them the target language, like noisy and lively.

While-listening

Step2 、3: listen to the first conversation

First of all I will ask students to listen and number the key words then they’ll check them later.

And then I will ask students to listen again and answer two questions:

What music does Tony’s father like?

What does Tony’s mother think about rock music?

The purpose of designing the questions is to lead in the conversation between Tony and his friends.

Step4、5、6: Listen to the second conversation.

First of all, I’ll ask the students to listen and write down what music they talked about.

After that, I will ask students to listen again and check the questions..

For Step 6, the students will read the conversation in roles and check the types of music they like.

The grammar in this unit is relatively easy, so I only let students know what is alternative question and how to answer it.

Post-listening

Step7: (Task) Making an interview and report..

Students will be asked to talk about music they like or don’t like and give reasons in groups of four after watching a short video .As you can see, it is an effective way that can help students make sure what they will talk about in their interview.
