Step 1 Review

1. A free talk “How was your summer holiday?”. Ask students to talk about it.

Ask and answer between the students and the teacher. Make a conversation about the summer holiday.

T: Nice to see you again. We had a long holiday last month. How was your summer holiday? Where did you go,Tom?

S: I went to Beijing.

Summarize students’ activities during the summer holiday and lead to the present perfect tense.

T: Now listen carefully. How was you summer holiday?

Where have you been, Tom?

S: I have been to Beijing.

T: Jane is absent. Where is Jane?

S: She has gone to Shanghai.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Listen and watch the video of Section A 1a. And learn the useful expressions.

2. Find out the sentences with “have/has been to” and “have/has gone to”.

I have been to Mount Huang.

She has gone to Cuba.

3. Make up dialogues according to the example and learn the differences between have/has been to and have/has gone to.
