Step 1. Lead-in

Greetings

Watch a flash

Let students watch a flash about the Spring Festival to lead in the topic, the Spring Festival and show what we usually do for the Spring Festival by pictures.

(Intention: To raise students’ learning interest and to lead in the topic, the Spring Festival.)

Step 2. Presentation

New words

Let students learn the news (room, door, window, make, kid) by pictures. And Let students pay attention to the letters’ pronunciation.

(Intention: It’s easier for students to learn and understand new words by pictures. It’s helpful to develop students’ speaking ability by pronunciation.)

New phrases

Let students learn new phrases (buy new clothes, clean our rooms, make dumpling, visit our family and friends, get lucky money) by pictures and actions.

(Intention: It’s easier for students to learn and understand new phrases by pictures and actions. )

Step 3. Practice

Read

Let students read the phrases one by one.

(Intention:To develop students speaking ability.)

Listen and circle

Let students listen to the tape of the text on Page 58 and circle out the new phrases while listening.

(Intention:To develop students listening ability.)

Listen and imitate

Let students listen to the tape again and imitate.

(Intention: To develop students speaking ability.)

Game

Present the phrases by PPT. When a phrase flys up, students stand up and speak it out loudly. When a phrase flys down, students sit down and speak it out loudly.
