Step 1 Warming-up

Singing songs

Encourage students to sing songs about the four seasons and let them have a different feeling of different seasons. .

(Justification: The design aims to introduce the topic of seasons, and create a relaxing atmosphere for the whole class. The class will be motivated to sing songs and guess season.)

Step 2 Pre-reading

Describing the seasons with the help of pictures & presenting new expressions in Seasons of the year

Pictures about the seasons will be shown to students. During the process, students will use short sentences to describe the pictures , and the teacher will present the new expressions in the poem.

For example:

T: (pictures about spring) Who would like to describe the pictures? Spring is warm and windy. People like to go out in this season to enjoy beautiful scenery. There are different kinds of colorful flowers blossoming and I like to take photos among flowers.

Write down the expression “among flowers” on the blackboard and explain its meaning.

With the help of pictures , students will know the meanings of expressions “among flowers” “shower” “temperature” “rise” “fall into piles” “harvest crops” and etc. after this step.

(Justification: The design aims to prepare students with necessary expressions.)

Step 3 While-reading

A. Ask students to look through the poem and answer the questions:

1. Why do birds fly far away ?

2. Does it often rain in spring ? If so , what do the bees and butterflies do ?

3. Which season do you like better , autumn or winter ? And why ?

B. Ask the students to listen to the poem and find out the rhyming words

Encourage students to follow the recording and read the poem, and guide them to appreciate the rhymes.

T: Do you still remember the poems about animals we learned before? What is an obvious feature of poems? (Rhyme) How about the rhymes in this poem? Please underline them.
