Teaching procedure

Step1. Free talk

T: How many seasons are there in a year? What are they?

S1:There are four, they are spring, summer, autumn and winter.

T:Yes, four seasons make a year.Then which season do you like best? Why?

S2:...

S3:...

S4:...(Show some pictures to Ss in order to remind them to answer the questions.)

Step2. New words

The teacher reads the sentence of the poem and show the pictures of new words to Ss and ask Ss to read the new words or phrases after the teacher, then ask Ss to read the new words and phrases twice.

Step3. Skimming

Have Ss listen to the poem and at the same time skim the poem and match the seasons, pictures with the descriptions.

Ask them to complete it by the time they finish their listening.

Then give an example to Ss, and ask three Ss to answer it, check the answer with Ss.

Ask the Ss to answer with a whole sentence like this:

1)The first picture is spring. What a perfect time to fly a kite! Bees and butterflies play among the flowers.So we choose c.

2).The second picture is autumn. Brown leaves fall on the ground. Farmers harvest crops.So we choose d.

3)The third picture is winter. Winter days are full of snow. Birds fly far away. So we choose b.

4)The fourth picture is summer. There are quiet streams, trees and shade. We can eat ice cream.So we choose a.
