Step I Pre-listening

1. Revision

T: Today is April. 27. May Day Holiday is coming. Are you happy now?

S: Yes.

T: What are you going to do on holiday? Will you go out?

S: Yes. / No.

T: Our friends Amy went out for a trip last May Day Holiday. But she said she didn’t feel happy. Her unpleasant trip began like this:

drop litter everywhere / park care here and there

take photos in the museum / smoke in public

2. Lead-in

T: If we want to tell others not to do sth., we will put up some public signs.

(1). Show the picture of sign “No littering”, and explain warn sb. not to do sth.

What is the sign? What does it tell us to do?

(2). Show the sign “No parking”, and learn the new word “park”.

(3). Show the sign “No swimming”, and fill the blank “It means _________”, “It warns us ______”.

(4). Show the sign “No drinking/eating” and fill the blank, then ask the questions.

Where can we see this sign? We can see it in public places like…

Step II While-listening

1. Task1: Where can we see public signs? (A2)

(1). Help Students review “public signs” and then give an example like this:

“No smoking” is usually seen in public places like hospitals…

(2). Predict the following signs seen in places like … Then give advice: Tip1 / Tip2

(3). Listening

(4). Check answers one by one in the form of “The sign is usually seen in places like …”

(5). Pair work: choose one of the public signs and make a dialogue like the model.

2. Task2: What are public signs? (A1)

(1). Read the passage before listening and then give Tip3 / Tip4.

(2). Explain new phrases and practise: keep sb. from sth.
