Teaching procedures:

A Working in a mountain area

StepⅠ Lead-in

1.Presenting pictures of children in the mountain area. Make students compare their education with them and discuss how to help them as a middle school student.

T:what can you see in the pictures?what can we do to help those students? To make students think over , talk freely and lead in new knowledge.

2.T:I can be a volunteer teacher to teach in schools in mountain areas. Now our government has many policies to encourage college students to support the development of north-west China.

Step Ⅱ Listening

Make students read questions of part A1 and get part of information.

T: peter’s cousin Judy is telling him about a volunteer project. First,let’s read the questions in part A1. Then listen to their conversation and finish part A1.

Make students finish A1 according to what they’ve listened.

broadcast listening materials again and make students check their answers.

Check answers together. If students can’t understand some answers,teachers can broadcast listening materials again and explain some information to students.

Step Ⅲ Practice

Work in pairs , practice the dialogue of A1 and enhance what they’ve learned

Step Ⅳ Listenig

Make students imagine what’s the school like, things he may do in urban school and communicate with each other in English. T:what’s the school like? What’ll Judy do at the school? Can you guess? Make students discuss with their partners and choose some students to talk about their guess.

T: Do you want to learn more about Judy’s volunteer life? Lead students read exercises questions in A2 .

T:Judy is telling Peter on the phone about her experience.Let’s listen to their coversation. Broadcast the listening materials again and make students finish the exercises in A2.

Broadcast listening materials again and check the answers.

StepⅤ Practice

Make students finish questions in A3 according to information of A1 and A2

Choose four students to read these four paragraghs and check answers together

Make the class read articles of A3.

Work in pairs .One act as Judy,the other act as Peter. Talk about Judy’s teachi ng life and urban primary school by using contents of A1 and A2

Choose some students to present their dialogues.

T: As a middle school stuent, how can you help people in your daily life? Ecourage students to talk with each other freely and talk about their own ideas

Step ⅡPresentation

T: The Class1,Grade 8 students are talking about how to help athers in their daily lives. Let’s listen to their coversation. Broadcast the listening materials of part B and make students know some behaviors that can help others. T:How do they help others in their daily lives? When students answer questions,they just need to give one idea that can help others.
