Preparations before class

Each student learnt the passive voice on Page 98-99 in students’ books by themselves;

A self-learning sheet was handed out to each student and they finished it before class.

Teaching procedure:

Step1. Let’s enjoy!

Ss enjoy some pictures of themselves in flipped classes.

Ss read the sayings in the passive voice below the pictures by themselves.

Step2. Let’s learn!

Ss get to know what the active voice and the passive voice are.

Ss get to know when to use the passive voice.

Ss learn the structures of the passive voice in the simple present and past tenses.

Ss learn how to change a sentence in the active voice into the passive voice.

Step3. Let’s practice!

Ss complete the exercises in part A and part B on P99-100

Ss do some exercises in a game called “Try your lucky number”to consolidate what they have learnt

Step4. Let’s learn more!

1. Ss learn some key points when changing the active voice into the passive voice.

2. Some students explain some difficult problems they had while learning by themselves.

Step5. Let’s practice more!

Ss listen to the passage about the voluntary work on Lei Feng’s Day, and fill in the blanks below:

On Lei Feng’s Day, the students in Class 13 Grade 8 did some cleaning for their class. The floor in the classroom was swept and mopped. And the teachers’ desk was tidied up by the two girls. Were all the windows cleaned? Yes, some boys did it. By whom were the exercise books collected? The two English representatives.

Ss talk about the monitor’s school life in the passive voice:

Our monitor is Cheng Xu. We call him “Boss Cheng” in secret(私下里).

His parents let him ride to school every day .We often hear him read English aloud every morning. He listens to the teacher carefully in class. After class, he always provides great help for his classmates in need. He also helps teachers to deal with class activities.

We all like him.
