I’ll focus on students’ improvements on getting the ability of its reading skills

I think I’ll have two difficulties in teaching.

How to encourage students to guess the meanings of the new words

2.How to arouse students’ interest in reading

Part 5 Teaching methods

In this class,I will use Task-based language Teaching and the Situational teaching method.I design some tasks to help the students learn to read.Meanwhile, I will create some authentic and interesting situations to arouse their interest in reading.I think if I want to improve the students’ general abilities of English,I should give them enough chances to practice and I will use pair work,group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities.That is “Learning by doing,learning by using”.Let the students be the masters of the class teaching,thus,student-centered teaching method is well shown.

Part 6 Teaching aids

As we know, CAI can provide a real situation for the students So in this class, a multi- media computer system is needed to increase the capacity and density of class. Of course, the projector is needed as well.

Part 8 Teaching procedure

Step 1 Pre-reading

1. Warm up

We have finished reading the three columns of the Magic Tree House. Let’s summarize its main ideas in each book.

Design purpose: The teacher’s statements will arouse students’ curiosity and motivate their interest. Warm up is virtually the primary presentation of the task. It helps them make necessary preparation for further reading, guide them into a good learning mood, motivate their interest and desire to learn, and then call out the new content naturally.

2.Find out the similarities of the three titles(Group work)

#1 Dinosaurs Before Dark

#2 The Knight At Dawn

#3 Mummies In The Morning

Design purpose: Reading is for getting information. The title of the book can also give readers a lot of information about the book.It will improve students’ reading interest, develop their ability to make prediction or train their reading habits.Meanwhile, by group discussion, students can get the ideas easily.

Step 2 While-reading

1.Guess the meaning of the title of the column 4

Design purpose: Encourage students to get the main idea by reading the title.

2.Pause and Predict

Good readers make predictions. Look at the cover of the book, read the blurb on the back cover, and read the chapter titles. Then make a prediction about the story.

Design purpose:Making prediction can help students learn to organize their own story and develop their creativity and interest in reading.

Read chapter 1 and answer the following questions

1). What did Jack and Annie have to get before they could go to the tree house?

2). How did Annie know that M had been to the tree house?

3).What two questions did Jack have?

4). What did Jack and Annie see in the open book?
