三、句型(语法)

1. Use adjectives to describe someone or something

When we need a sentence to describe someone or something , we use a relative clause.

A defining relative clause describe the nouns before it . We cannot take it our of a sentence because it contains important information . We can use who , which or that in defining relative clauses.

2. Relative pronouns:

Who ,which and that can be used as relative pronouns . We use them to refer to people and/or things.

We use relative pronouns to introduce relative clauses. The relative clause comes after the noun it refers to.

3.Distinguish the defining clauses and object clauses.

教学设计:

1. 3-minute speech.(通过提问复习课文相关的内容)

( Do you like reading books / watching films?

What kind of books/films do you like reading/watching?

Do you like reading/watching detective stories/films?

And why?)

2. Watch and Find

Give students some key words , let them retell the content of reading.

3. Discuss and Work out the rules:(从定语从句的定义入手,逐渐让学生了解定从)

(1) What is a defining relative clause?

I like the pen.

( which one ?)

The pen cost me 10 yuan.

I like the pen which/that cost me 10 yuan.

The pen :先行词 Which/that :关系代词

关系代词就是用来代替先行词的the pen = which/that

先行词:是被定语从句所修饰的词,通常是名词或代词。

关系代词: 是引导定语从句的词,在从句中替代先行词。

注意: 从句必须紧跟在先行词后。

….先行词(名词/代词)+关系代词(who/whom/which/that)+ ….

(2)Group work:(具体讲解不同的关系代词的用法)

Give them some sentences , let them discuss and make their conclusions.
