IV. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Leading-in
1. Ask students what they usually do in their free time? And then ask students to guess what the teacher usually do in the free time.
2. Play two music for students and then join the two sentences together.
3. Show students some groups and introduce the sentence “I like the groups which/that are cool.”
Step 2 Presentation
Use the sentence: Mary is a beautiful girl to introduce defining relative clause Mary is a girl who has long hair.
Ask students to find out defining relative clause and object clause and the difference between them.
Use a sentence to introduce the defining relative clause is made up of three parts: antecedent, relative and defining relative clause.
Work out the rule: How to use “Relative pronouns”
Please join the two parts into defining relative clause.
