Step 1 Lead-in and presentation

Divide the whole class into two groups, We’ll have a competition. Present several groups of pictures of people with different hair styles, hair colors, height and build. Try to describe.

A: What does he/she look like?

B: He/She is…, and He/She has…

Step 2 Group-work

Ask students to work in groups to discuss where we should use “is” and where we use “has” when we describe people’s looks.

And then ask students to show their result.

描述人的长相用动词 be 还是 have/has

1、be (is, am, are) + 形容词

tall / short / heavy / thin

of medium height

of medium build

2、have / has + 名词词组

short / long hair

straight /curly hair

big / small eyes

Step 3. Practice

Ask Ss to work in pairs and practice descirbing people in the picture , then invite some pairs to act out.

A: What does he/she look like?

B: He/She is…, and He/She has…

Step4. presentation

1a Match the words with the pictures. Then check the answers.

Make some new sentences with these phrases:

big eyes small nose big mouth small ears short hair

A: What does he/she look like?

B: He/She has two big eyes, a small nose, and a big mouth.

Step5. Talking Describe what your favorite singer or actor looks like

Describe these stars: show some pictures of famous stars on the screen and have Ss to describe, invite several Ss to describe.

Eg: My favorite singer is Jay Chou. He is of medium height and build. He has short black hair. He has small eyes. He’s really handsome.
