Step 1: General introduction

1. Warming up

Warming up by reading and thinking, turn to page 24 and do the exercises.

1) Read the sentences from the passage and answer the questions.

2) Translate the following phrases into English:

煮沸的水 发达国家 升起的太阳 先进的技术 有经验的老师

退休的工人 迷惑的表情 摔断的胳膊 决定性的一步 一个动人的影片

2. Summary about the –ed form

(一)语法要点说明:过去分词或过去分词短语可以用来修饰名词做定语。过去分词表达的内容与被修饰的名词具有完成和被动关系。

position : past participle + n.

n.+ past participle

1.The letter mailed last night will reach him tomorrow.

2. It is the doll given by my aunt.

3. This is the best written novel.

(二)还有一些过去分词是表达人或物品的特性或状态,这些词与其说是过去分词,倒不如说是以-ed结尾的形容词。 e.g.

1. Experienced editors and reporters make informed decisions about what events to report and how to report them.
