Task: Introduce LongquanTypeNewThe context of the themeHuman and societyTime40’Analysis of teaching materials The passage is actually a conversation between Xiao Li and John Martin. By learning the passage, I’ll enable students to know location, climate and the introduction of Xiamen, such as places of interest, architecture, the business district, the western district and so on. Xiamen is indeed an attractive , interesting and lively city. By reading the conversation, the students can use the reading skills: scanning, skimming, word guessing ,studying and summarizing to know the passage better and learn to describe their hometown—Longquan from what they have learned. In these activities, the students can take an active part in them in class. This lesson plays an essential role in this module.Analysis of the studentsStudents being in senior high for one month, firstly, are still used to learning English just by learning some new words before reading a passage in junior high. They are poor in reading skills. Therefore, in this lesson, I focus on training their reading skills by scanning, skimming, word guessing ,studying and summarizing.

Secondly, students are finishing Modules1--3 and they have learnt a lot about how to introduce their new school(Module 1) ,new teachers(Module 2) and their first trip ( Module3), so it is possible for them to draw a mind map with some key words , which can help them to introduce their hometown. Furthermore, they will love their hometown and country.
