Teaching procedures:

Step1.warm up

Play a short piece of video where rich body languages are used.

Activity1: play a small game. Ask two students to perform and the others to guess the words.

(Purpose: make the students relaxed and arouse their interest in the topic.)

Step2.vocabulary

Put ten key words in a context and the related pictures are included too. Then, ask students to guess and remember the meanings of new words.

(Purpose: help students get over the barrier in reading.)

Step3.Reading

Task1: choose the best title of the passage.

Task2: try to find the structure of the passage.

Activity2: group work

Read the passage again and try to find good solutions to problems in each situation.

(Purpose: enable students to apply what they have read to actual situations.)

Task3: test yourself by filling in blanks.

Step4.Discussion

What kind of people often use body language?

Traffic policemen, judges in sports competition, special force,

news announcer and so on.

In order to have a good communication with the deaf and dumb people, we need to learn some body language.

Activity3:teach students some common body languages in china.
