3. 教学目标和要求Teaching aims and demands

1)知识目标knowledge aim

a. Learn about the following new words: sighting, latest, claw, hairy, horn, dive, calm, sceptical….

b. Use scanning to find out the main ideas of each paragraph and know the structure of the whole passage.(How many parts should the passage be divided?)

c. Read for the detailed information about the monster.

d, Enable the Ss to apply what they learnt to practice.??

(Reading tasks should be designed from easy level to higher level, according to the famous educator Crawley and Mountain. They divide reading into three stages: literal reading, interpretive reading and critical reading. The second and third ones are the literal reading, while the last one is the interpretive reading.)

2)能力目标ability aim

a. Help them to understand the reading better and improve the four skills.

b.Cultivate their ability to discover, analyze and solve problems.

c. Develop their ability of thinking independently.

d. Train them to collect information from the Internet.

(The New Syllabus says reading should be a process that help students take in information, process information, analyze problems and solve problems. So I designed the first three reading tasks, one discussion and a writing to help them.

3)情感目标emotional aim

a. Arouse their interest in learning English;

b. Help them to understand the background of the unexplained mysteries in the world.

c. Enable the students to love the nature and explore the secret of nature.?

(reading and learning to inspire the students motivation to work hard.)

4. 教学重点teaching important points

1) To develop the students’ good reading habits and help improve their reading ability including the ability to get the general content of a news report and the ability to grasp the main idea of each paragraph.

2)?To guide the students how to express their opinions?and how describe a monster.?

(first give students enough information to take in, then make them put what they learnt into speaking, which is the output.)

1) How to create a bridge between reading and ability.

2) Develop their spoken English.
