我所教的学生是高二理科班的二班，学生基础较好，已经掌握了基本的阅读技巧和听说能力，词汇量较丰富，能够独立完成阅读任务和题目，并可以在有限的时间内与同桌完成small talk的对话。
三．Teaching aims:
Knowledge goal
Learn some words and phrases related to small talk (yawn, sigh, social rules, look away from, think of ……)
Know something about small talk and social skills.
Ability goal
Learn to find out the main idea and detail information in different reading skills.
Learn to practice small talk.
Emotion goal
Develop Ss’ awareness of cross-cultural communication.

Step1. Have a talk between teacher and student, after that , ask the Ss to judge it belongs to light or serious talk. Tell the Ss it is just a small talk.
Step2. Ask the Ss to read different definitions in different dictionaries about small talk, then use adjective words to descried small talk.
