Key Points

Nouns that end with “al”;

“Throw”,”treat”,”benefit” and some other key vocabulary;

Application of key words and the instruction of writing about cloning;

A combination of reading and writing.

Teaching Method

I will adopt Task-based Language Teaching. TBLT emphasizes that teacher-students or students-students interaction will help students use language. The students will have language acquisition while finishing tasks. I mainly designed 4 tasks in this class: Students explain some key points as a teacher; Discuss in groups to strengthen what they have learned; Complete another similar passage; Apply what they have obtained into writing. These tasks focus on the students’zone of proximal development, offering more contents with difficulty, where students are made sure to be the center of the class.

In this class I have successfully created situations to arouse students’ interest in language study. The creation of situations was in accord with 3S principles, which are secure, stable and sustainable.

I have successfully applied the key points in the writing practice and guide the students to be the real center of the class. The students are fully prepared in the explanation and surely they will benefit from this process. Frankenstein’s monster, which is a little bit strange to students, has offered some moral and cultural lessons for the students.

On the other hand, many problems still remain to be settled. The materials are a little more difficult for the students in my class, after all, they are not as excellent as expected. Besides, the students should have been given enough time to discuss, because they are the real center of a class whatever grade they are in. Meanwhile, the teacher ought to have paid more attention to the students. Remember to listen to the silence of the students and break the silence of the students.
