《Reading and vocabulary》优质课教案下载

As high-school students, they have their own opinions on the surroundings and are often sensitive to them. They have high interest in learning some knowledge about the advanced science and technology. However, they still have some problems with reading skills and have difficulties in expressing their ideas. As a result, students are expected to improve their reading skills and speak out their own ideas freely and actively in this class.

Teaching Aims:

1. Knowledge aim: Students can learn some knowledge about cloning.

2. Ability aim: Students are instructed to master some vocabulary and reading skills.

3. Emotional aim: Students' interest in learning cloning is expected to be aroused and students are expected to talk about the novels and the film Frankenstein.

Important Points:

Students learn some important words and phrases: monster, terrifying, ugly, create, frightening, horror, resemble, wrinkled, disgust, emotion, murder ...

some important sentence patterns: it is/was ... that ...; I wish ...

Difficulties:

Students master some reading skills and try to retell the passage actively.

Teaching procedure:

Step 1 Lead-in

Students are shown some funny pictures about cloning and then students are asked some questions:

( Purpose: to arouse students' interest in this class. )

“Do you think of a cloned man? Are you for or against a cloned human?

And if you clone a man, do you want it to be beautiful or ugly?”

Step 2 Background

Students are given a brief introduction of the background of the fiction Frankenstein.

Step 3 Reading Part 1

Students read Part 1 and put some sentences in correct order at first. Second, students are asked to fill in a table with some detailed information.?

(Purpose: to help students get a general understanding of the story.)

1. Fast Reading

Put the following sentences in correct order.

A. The monster kills Frankenstein's brother, his friend and his wife.

B. The scientist refuses to create a wife for the monster.
