Teaching procedures:

Step1 Greetings  

T: Class begins!  

T: Good morning, class!  

T: Sit down, please!  

Step2 Presentation   

T: Boys and girls, in this class let’s study attributive clauses. How much do you know about it?  

T: Good! An attributive clause is a sentence and modifies a noun. In order to know it well, please look at the picture on Page 8 and speak out what you think of.   

T: Quite good! You saw much more than me. I can just see a green team, a basketball team in green, a team who are wearing green. Look at the blackboard please. Here green is an adjective and it modifies team.  

Adjective: a green team  

Prepositional phrase: a team in green  

Attributive clause: a team who are wearing green   

T: The third sentence?who are wearing green?is an attributive clause. Now let’s explore different parts of it. Who would like to tell me which part is called an antecedent?  

T:Yes.?A team.?The noun it modifies is called an antecedent.  

T:What do we call?who?   

T:Great! It’s a relative pronoun. Do we have more? Here I have more sentences.Please read them and find more relative words from them. Are you ready? Go!   

Subject  

The trees which are on the school campus have lost their leaves.  

Object  

The students whom we saw just now is the best runner in our school.  

Predicative  

Jack is no longer the lazy boy he used to be.
