Explanation Step 1: Leading in

Listen to the song That’s Why You Go Away in which some attributive clauses are included to arouse students’ learning interest and ask the students to fill in the blanks.

You’re the one _____set it up

Now you’re the one to make it stop

I’m the one____’s feeling lost right now

Now you want me to forget every little thing_______you said

There is nothing left in my head

Step 2: The definition of the attributive clause

The teacher will present a sentence to assist students to learn about the antecedent, relative pronouns and clause. So the students will know the functions of the attributive clause and relative pronouns. The structure of the attributive clause is also introduced to let the students know the position of the attributive clause is behind the antecedent.

This is the best film that I have seen.

Film is the antecedent. That is a relative pronoun. That I have seen is the attributive clause. The position of a attributive clause is behind the antecedent.

Step 3: A general introduction of the relative pronouns and the functions

Besides who and that, the teacher will give other three relative pronouns: which, who and whose. Then the teacher will explain the functions of relative pronouns.

The first function is to lead an attributive clause and the second is to replace the antecedent and the last to act as a component in the attributive clause.

Step 4: Basic usage of the relative pronouns

①whom指人,在定语从句中作宾语,可省略。

Join the following sentences:

合并句子:先找同类型,后用加减法,加关系词减同类项。

The girl is Mary. We saw her yesterday.
