Many movies are adapted from novels, such as the wandering earth, which are very popular among teenagers during last winter vacation.

Nowadays, many science fiction films attract people with fantastic pictures and modern computer effects特效. While accordingly science fiction stories don’t have fantastic pictures or modern computer effects, all they have are attractive plots.

Jules Verne’s science fiction stories are attractive all over the world for more than one century. What’s the commonality of all his novels? Please read Journey to the Centre of the Earth and try to find the answers. What makes his science fiction stories popular?

After reading this story, you must have some general ideas about it. To make things organized, let’s find the answers with the given key words.
(Characters: Professor Otto, his nephew Axel, a guide named Hans. Background: Professor Otto Lindenbrock found a secret message about a trip to the centre of the Earth through a volcano. Plot: (1) They journeyed underground to a vast room with a large ocean inside. (2) They had trouble sailing. (3) They were frightened by a tall man. (4) Their boat was out of control because of the explosion. Ending: They now found themselves in a volcano in Italy.)
Now, we have finished reading this science fiction story based on this, we can try to start writing science fiction story. You do not need to write your own story right now, but you can have some basic ideas about science fiction writing. These may help you if you want to become a writer. Let’s figure out what they are.
((1). Stick to general descriptions of the world or sci-fi element of the story, for example, Verne only describes things that happened underground. (2). Keep the language simple even if the world or the idea is complex. For example, this novel features some simple words and sentences. You can hardly see any complex sentences. So, Verne can create wonderful plots while it is still easy for readers to enjoy. (3). Don’t try to incorporate too many strange and fantastical elements into a story. For example, according to the passage, we can clearly see that there are only few strange elements on top of the things you know before, such as the boat, ocean, forest and so on. (4). Have a character that readers can relate to. For example, this is simplified version of the original novel, I recommend you read this book and you can find yourself immersed in adventures as if you are one of the characters. )
3. The last sentence implies they still have new adventures, that is to say, you can continue writing this novel, based on your own imagination. Keep in mind the four ideas I give you. Let’s come up with some ideas about their new adventure in a volcano in Italy.
