Teaching Important Point:

To involve students in the activity to learn the reading strategy

Teaching Difficult Points:

To grasp the detailed information

To spread the culture of dancing

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Lead - in

Before class, students will enjoy a short show. T will ask Ss what topic will be discussed today.

Step 2. Pre -reading (Task 1 dance & music)

Students will enjoy some periods of videos and introduce some popular dances nowadays.

Horse riding dance / street dance / belly dance / square dance

Step 3. Extensive reading

Task 2

Fill in the gaps in the text by using the sentences in exercise 3 on P28.

T will give students a hand to solve this problem by reading strategy.

After finishing it, T will sum up the reading strategy to all students.

Step 4. Intensive reading

Ss will be asked to fill in the blanks about the origin, features and famous examples related to three topics. Meanwhile, they will do it with listening to the tape.

Questions:

Why did a lot of new dances come from the USA?

What is the main difference between folk and popular dance?

Summary

Step 5. A game

Three groups will be invited to the platform. One student in each group uses body language to express the dance and the other tries to guess the name of the dance.
