V.Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Warm-up (IW, 3min’)

play a trailer of the old movie Frankenstein to lead in, which helps to create a lively atmosphere, arouse the the students’ interest, as well as bring back their memory of the story in the first place. By identifying that the movie is a horror and science-fiction movie, the students may be able to deepen their understanding of the background and theme of the fiction.

Task 1. play the movie trailer.

Task 2. Answer 2 questions related to the video.

Step 2: Review (IW, 3min’)

Present students’ mind maps drawn before and invite a student to retell the story so as to review the main plots. After that, use a diagram to present the relations between characters because it is exactly the contradictions that showcase the theme of the story.

Step 3: Analyse the characters (GW, 20min’)

It’s important to look at things from different perspectives, taking into account all factors, but it’s easier said than done. Therefore, to put us in others’ shoes, we may find it easier when doing some imaginations combined with the effect of multi-media technology, like videos and performances.

Task 1. Imagine and think about the question:
