Try to help students build up correct attitudes towards money in such a material world.

Teaching Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, students are able to :

1. Understand the main idea and the structure of the text.

2. Learn different lifestyles of some millionaires.

3. Build up correct attitude towards money.

Difficulties:

Students are very familiar with money, but they may not know how to express the importance of it in English. Besides, they may not be able to understand why celebrities are willing to donate more than half of their money to charity and they can feel the fulfillment and happiness those millionaires gain from philanthropy, due to students’ lack of actual life experience.

Task 2: Provide students the title and a picture of Charles Gray, ask them to brainstorm, predict the main idea of the text.Help students master the key words well and make up sentences related to the life of millionaires.

Encourage students to use their imagination and grasp the main idea of the text.Step 3: ReadingTask 1: read for general ideas:

Ask students to match the main ideas with paragraphs.

Task 2: read for details:

Require students to answer four questions.

Task 3:summarizing the text

Ask students to read the text again, sum up the main idea of it and complete the short passage.Develop students’ reading skills.

Help students grasp both the main idea and some important details of the text.
