一、Analysis of the teaching material
This is a reading passage. It is written in the form of reported speech, giving a detailed introduction of Wang Junyan– a successful TV presenter and her experience of achieving success. Her road to success provides a moral education for the students. The passage is a bit long, but it is not difficult to understand.
二、Analysis of the students
My students are of average level in Senior Two. Since they have learnt the previous two lessons in this unit, they have accumulated quite a few words and expressions to describe a person’s quality, which may enable them to fulfill the reading tasks more easily. Besides, my students are active learners. They are willing to participate in all kinds of class activities, including reading, speaking and discussing. However, they may have some difficulties in writing a summary of the passage. Therefore, to optimize the efficiency of students’ learning, I specially design a learning handout for them, guiding them to learn step by step during my lesson.

To understand the main idea and detail of the passage.
