Ability aim

Through the class, students try to cultivate their creativity and promote their English proficiency, especially the abilities related to listening, speaking and writing;

Students can realize the importance of team work or cooperation and form the awareness of appreciating and disseminating the rich and colorful local cultural relics.

Key points:

Listening practice, especially content related to numbers;

Design the travel itinerary and oral presentation.

Difficult points:

Words & expressions about local cultural relics;

How to design a reasonable travel schedule.

Teaching methods:

Task-based method;

Group discussion and role play.

Teaching facilities:

Multi-media, paper, pictures and drawing pens.

Teaching procedure:

Step 1 Pre-class

Before class, show a short official tourism promotion video about the basic knowledge of Canada to make students review the information related to Canada.

Step 2 Lead-in (4’)

After routine greetings, ask the students to have a brain storm about Canada and then review the journey of Liu Qian and her friends in Canada in the first 3 days.

Step 3 Listening (9’)

Share the voice-mail with all the students and they are asked to fill in the blanks according go what they hear for twice and then check the answers and explain some difficult words.

Step 4 Explore (13’)

Divide students into several groups to design a one-day travel itinerary around Lanzhou with the words, color-pens and pictures provided for them.

Step 5 Role play (9’)
