StepⅠ Lead-in (Purpose: self-introduction and introduce today’s learning content)

T: Good afternoon, boys and girls! (S: Good afternoon…) You may call me Vivian or Ms. Chen. It’s a pleasure for me to give you this lesson here, and I hope you will enjoy my lesson today.

First we are going to have a brief revision of the forms of the English poems and learn about some usage of the important words and expressions. Mainly we’ll focus on the IF Adverbial Clause in Subjunctive Mood.

Step II Revision of words and expressions (Purpose: to review the forms of the English poems and the words to describe their features, as well as learning some important words and the usage of phrases and expressions.)

T: Can you first name the poem and then complete the definition? Pay attention to the clue words,

for example, “five lines” in the first sentence.

A poem, which is _made up of five lines, is easy for students to write and _convey a strong _picture_ in just a few words.

English speakers enjoy Asian poetry as well, the poems from China _in particular_, such as the one describing a woman transformed_ into stone.

Another simple form of poem is usually _translations from Japanese with 17_syllables_, which create a special feeling using the minimum of words.
